Hvad er et SU-lån, og hvor meget kan jeg låne?

Et traditionelt SU-lån er en supplerende indtægt til din SU. Du vil dermed kunne hæve din SU, men du skal betale den del, du låner tilbage. Du kan maksimalt låne 3.116 kroner om måneden ved siden af din normale SU.

Der findes også et slutlån og et supplerende SU-lån, men det er to andre typer af lån. Et traditionelt SU-lån, hvor du låner et yderligere beløb om måneden ved siden af din normale SU, er klart det mest anvendte blandt unge.

Men hvorfor er det så populært?

Et billigt lån

Renten på et SU-lån er lavere end på de fleste andre lån. Derfor kan det ses som en mulighed for at investere. Selvom du reelt ikke har brug for lånet, er der mange unge, der tager det for at gemme pengene som tilskud til en bil, bolig eller noget tredje. Du kan nemlig kun tage et SU-lån, mens du er under uddannelse og er SU-berettiget. Dermed kan du have en god pose penge efter endt uddannelse til en billig rente.

Lige nu er renten på et SU-lån 4% om året og på diskontoen efter endt uddannelse.

Betal først tilbage efter din studietid

Når du optager et SU-lån, skal du ikke begynde at betale din gæld tilbage før 1. januar et år efter udgangen af det år, hvor din uddannelse er afsluttet. Det betyder, at hvis du er færdiguddannet d. 30. april 2021, så skal du ikke starte tilbagebetalingen før d. 1. januar 2023.

Det giver gode mulighed for, at du har fundet et job og fået en bedre indkomst, før du skal starte din tilbagebetaling. Tilbagebetaling foregår over syv år.

Fokuser på dit studie

Et SU-lån giver dig mulighed for at få flere penge mellem hænderne, uden at du arbejder for det. Det giver dig en chance for at fokusere på dit studie, selvom der er store og mange udgifter ved siden af. For mange studerende er det afstressende og gør hverdagen mere overskuelig. Derfor kan et SU-lån også ses som en investering i dit studie og dermed også din fremtid, hvor du når at læse flere lektier og forberede dig bedre til eksamen i stedet for at arbejde ekstra timer. Det kan have indflydelse på dine jobmuligheder.

Forøg din livskvalitet

Du skal selvfølgelig have respekt for økonomi og bruge dine penge med omtanke. Det kan kun anbefales. Men hvis du har en husleje på 4.000 kroner og får 5.300 i SU, og dernæst skal betale regninger og have mad og drikke, er der ikke med tilovers til fritiden. Med et SU-lån kan det blive til flere biografture, en øl i ny og næ, og du skal ikke ligge søvnløs over, hvordan du får betalt den elregning, der lige er tikket ind ad døren. Det er også vigtigt at have en sjov og meningsfuld hverdag, hvor der er plads til andet end lektielæsning og arbejde engang imellem. Ellers bliver studietiden ikke noget særligt at huske tilbage på, og det ville være en skam.
